Cross Winds Family Campground
Arthur Morrison believes in pursuing his dreams which is why upon retiring from the NC Highway Patrol after 20 years, he flew for the Piedmont/US Airways Commuter System for 21 years.
Approaching mandatory retirement at age 60, he began researching the possibility of building a campground. Knowing what his family looked for when searching for places to camp, he felt was an advantage he could use.
After two years of research and on the day of his final flight for the airline, Arthur and his wife attended the County meeting that gave them the final approval to begin building Cross Winds Family Campground.
Ground breaking began December 2, 2008. Utilizing the information learned and scrutinizing every bill that came in, the campground officially opened June 20, 2009. The pool followed for Labor Day of that year.
Knowledge and research were upmost in choosing the right professionals for work that had to be completed. Were there glitches, most definitely! However, with the help of retired men, family members, favorable weather and most importantly, blessings from above, the dream became a reality.
This June will be the 12th year and if history repeats itself at 20 years, what’s he going to do next?
