Local Interest: The Crystal Coast is a very family oriented vacation destination. There is an abundance of historical sites and outdoor activities available. NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, Fort Macon, Tryon Palace, and Historic Beaufort are just a few of the fun things in the area, and all are less than an hour away from the park. Everyone loves the beach for walking, fishing, surfing, swimming, or just relaxing. Kayaking and Stand-Up Paddle-boarding have become very popular in recent years, with guided tours and rentals available through some local business. Delicious restaurants are scattered throughout the area, most of which specialize in fresh, local seafood. Restaurant wait times can be long during the summer, so we try to bring in local food trucks to save campers the hassle of going out to eat.
